Juz 30

Back
ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another?
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 1
About the awesome tiding [of resurrection],
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 2
on which they [so utterly] disagree.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 3
Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]!
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 4
And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand!
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 5
HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you],
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 6
and the mountains [its] pegs?
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 7
And We have created you in pairs;
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 8
and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 9
and made the night [its] cloak
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 10
and made the day [a symbol of] life.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 11
And We have built above you seven firmaments,
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 12
and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 13
And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance,
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 14
so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs,
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 15
and gardens dense with follage.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 16
VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time:
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 17
the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes;
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 18
and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates;
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 19
and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 20
[On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] –
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 21
a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right!
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 22
In it shall they remain for a long time.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 23
Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink –
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 24
only burning despair and ice-cold darkness:
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 25
a meet requital [for their sins]!
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 26
Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account,
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 27
having given the lie to Our messages one and all:
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 28
but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did].
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 29
[And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!"
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 30
[But,] verily for the God-conscious there is supreme fulfilment in store:
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 31
luxuriant gardens and vinyards,
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 32
and splendid companions well matched,
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 33
and a cup [of happiness] overflowing.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 34
No empty talk will they hear in that [paradise], nor any lie.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 35
[All this will be] a reward from thy Sustainer, a gift in accordance with [His Own] reckoning –
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 36
[a reward from] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the Most Gracious! [And] none shall have it in their power to raise their voices unto Him
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 37
on the Day when all [human] souls and all the angels will stand up in ranks: none will speak but he to whom the Most Gracious will have given leave; and [everyone] will say [only] what is right.
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 38
That will be the Day of Ultimate Truth: whoever wills, then, let him take the path that leads towards his Sustainer!
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 39
Verily, We have warned you of suffering near at hand - [suffering] on the Day when man shall [clearly] see what his hands have sent ahead, and when he who has denied the truth shall say, "Oh, would that I were mere dust...!"
Surah An-Naba - Ayah 40
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 1
and move [in their orbits] with steady motion,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 2
and float [through space] with floating serene,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 3
and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking:
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 4
and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest!
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 5
[HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world],
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 6
to be followed by further [convulsions]!
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 7
On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 8
[and] their eyes downcast...
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 9
[And yet,] some say, "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state –
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 10
even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?"
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 11
[And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!"
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 12
[But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry -
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 13
and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]!
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 14
HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken.
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 15
Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley:
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 16
"Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right -
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 17
and say [unto him], 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity?
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 18
[If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].’"
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 19
And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace].
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 20
But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance],
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 21
and brusquely turned his back [on Moses];
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 22
and then he gathered [his great ones], and called [unto his people],
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 23
and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!"
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 24
And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world.
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 25
In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God].
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 26
[O MEN!] Are you more difficult to create than the heaven which He has built?
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 27
High has He reared its vault and formed it in accordance with what it was meant to be;
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 28
and He has made dark its night and brought forth its light of day.
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 29
And after that, the earth: wide has He spread its expanse,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 30
and has caused its waters to come out of it, and its pastures,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 31
and has made the mountains firm:
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 32
[all this] as a means of livelihood for you and your animals.
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 33
AND SO, when the great overwhelming event [of, resurrection] comes to pass –
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 34
on that Day man will [clearly] remember all that he has ever wrought;
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 35
and the blazing fire [of hell] will be lad open before all who [are destined to] see it.
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 36
For, unto him who shall have transgressed the bounds of what is right,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 37
and preferred the life of this world [to the good of his soul],
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 38
that blazing fire will truly be the goal!
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 39
But unto him who shall have stood in fear of his Sustainer's Presence, and held back his inner self from base desires,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 40
paradise will truly be the goal!
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 41
THEY WILL ASK thee [O Prophet] about the Last Hour: "When will it come to pass?"
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 42
[But] how couldst thou tell anything about it,
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 43
[seeing that] with thy Sustainer alone rests the beginning and the end [of all knowledge] thereof?
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 44
Thou art but [sent] to warn those who stand in awe of it.
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 45
On the Day when they behold it, [it will seem to them] as if they had tarried [in this world] no longer than one evening or [one night, ending with] its morn!
Surah An-Naazi'aat - Ayah 46
HE FROWNED and turned away
Surah Abasa - Ayah 1
because the blind man approached him!
Surah Abasa - Ayah 2
Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 3
or have been reminded [of the truth], and helped by this reminder.
Surah Abasa - Ayah 4
Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient
Surah Abasa - Ayah 5
to him didst thou give thy whole attention,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 6
although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity;
Surah Abasa - Ayah 7
but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness
Surah Abasa - Ayah 8
and in awe [of God]
Surah Abasa - Ayah 9
him didst thou disregard!
Surah Abasa - Ayah 10
NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder:
Surah Abasa - Ayah 11
and so, whoever is willing may remember Him
Surah Abasa - Ayah 12
in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 13
lofty and pure,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 14
[borne] by the hands of messengers
Surah Abasa - Ayah 15
noble and most virtuous.
Surah Abasa - Ayah 16
[But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth!
Surah Abasa - Ayah 17
[Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him?
Surah Abasa - Ayah 18
Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 19
and then makes it easy for him to go through life;
Surah Abasa - Ayah 20
and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave;
Surah Abasa - Ayah 21
and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 22
Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him!
Surah Abasa - Ayah 23
Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food:
Surah Abasa - Ayah 24
[how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly;
Surah Abasa - Ayah 25
and then We cleave the earth [with new growth], cleaving it asunder,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 26
and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 27
and vines and edible plants,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 28
and olive trees and date-palms,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 29
and gardens dense with foliage,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 30
and fruits and herbage,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 31
for you and for your animals to enjoy.
Surah Abasa - Ayah 32
AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard
Surah Abasa - Ayah 33
on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 34
and from his mother and father,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 35
and from his spouse and his children:
Surah Abasa - Ayah 36
on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern.
Surah Abasa - Ayah 37
Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 38
laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings.
Surah Abasa - Ayah 39
And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered,
Surah Abasa - Ayah 40
with darkness overspread:
Surah Abasa - Ayah 41
these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity!
Surah Abasa - Ayah 42
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 1
and when the stars lose their light,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 2
and when the mountains are made to vanish,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 3
and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 4
and when all beasts are gathered together,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 5
and when the seas boil over,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 6
and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds],
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 7
and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 8
for what crime she had been slain,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 9
and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 10
and when heaven is laid bare,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 11
and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 12
and when paradise is brought into view:
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 13
[on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself].
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 14
BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 15
the planets that run their course and set,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 16
and the night as it darkly falls,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 17
and the morn as it softly breathes:
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 18
behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle,
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 19
with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 20
[the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust!
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 21
For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman:
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 22
he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon;
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 23
and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception.
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 24
Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed.
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 25
Whither, then, will you go?
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 26
This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind –
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 27
to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way.
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 28
But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way].
Surah At-Takwir - Ayah 29
WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 1
and when the stars are scattered,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 2
and when the seas burst beyond their bounds,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 3
and when the graves are overturned –
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 4
every human being will [at last] comprehend, what he has sent ahead and what he has held back [in this world].
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 5
O MAN! What is it that lures thee away from thy bountiful Sustainer,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 6
who has created thee, and formed thee in accordance with what thou art meant' to be, and shaped thy nature in just proportions,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 7
having put thee together in whatever form He willed [thee to have]?
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 8
Nay, [O men,] but you [are lured away from God whenever you are tempted to] give the lie to [God’s] Judgment!
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 9
And yet, verily, there are ever-watchful forces over you,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 10
noble, recording,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 11
aware of whatever you do!
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 12
Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous: will indeed be in bliss,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 13
whereas, behold, the wicked will indeed be in a blazing fire –
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 14
[a fire] which they shall enter on Judgment Day,
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 15
and which they shall not [be able to] evade.
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 16
And what could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be?
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 17
And once again: What could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be?
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 18
[It will be] a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to another human being: for on that Day [it will become manifest that] all sovereignty is God's alone.
Surah Al-Infitaar - Ayah 19
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 1
those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full –
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 2
but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due!
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 3
Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 4
[and called to account] on an awesome Day –
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 5
the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds?
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 6
NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable!
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 7
And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be?
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 8
A record [indelibly] inscribed!
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 9
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth –
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 10
those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 11
for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 12
[and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say, "Fables of ancient times!"
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 13
Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do!
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 14
Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred;
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 15
and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 16
and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!"
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 17
NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty!
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 18
And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be?
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 19
A record [indelibly] inscribed,
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 20
witnessed~ by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God.
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 21
Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 22
[resting on couches, they will look up [to God]:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 23
upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss.
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 24
They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set,
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 25
pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise], then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 26
for it is composed of all that is most exalting
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 27
a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink.
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 28
BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 29
and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively];
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 30
and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests;
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 31
and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say, "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!"
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 32
And, withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others...
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 33
But on the Day [of Judgment], they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 34
[for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]:
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 35
"Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?"
Surah Al-Mutaffifin - Ayah 36
WHEN THE SKY is split asunder,
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 1
obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must;
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 2
and when the earth is leveled,
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 3
and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void,
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 4
obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must -:
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 5
[then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him!
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 6
And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand,
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 7
he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting,
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 8
and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind.
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 9
But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back;
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 10
he will in time pray for utter destruction:
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 11
but he will enter the blazing flame.
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 12
Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 13
for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God].
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 14
Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him!
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 15
BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow,
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 16
and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds,
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 17
and the moon, as it grows to its fullness:
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 18
[even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage.
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 19
What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]?
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 20
and [that], when the Qur’an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration?
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 21
Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]!
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 22
Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts].
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 23
Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] –
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 24
unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works: for theirs shall be a reward unending!.
Surah Al-Inshiqaaq - Ayah 25
CONSIDER the sky full of great constellations,
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 1
and [then bethink thyself of] the promised Day,
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 2
and [of] Him who witnesses [all], and [of] that unto which witness is borne [by Him]!
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 3
THEY DESTROY [but] themselves, they who would ready a pit
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 4
of fire fiercely burning [for all who have attained to faith]!
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 5
Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire],
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 6
fully conscious of what they are doing to the believers,
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 7
whom they hate for no other reason than that they believe in God, the Almighty, the One to whom all praise is due,
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 8
[and] to whom the dominion of the heavens and the earth belongs. But God is witness unto everything!
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 9
Verily, as for those who persecute believing men and believing women, and thereafter do not repent, hell's suffering awaits them: yea, suffering through fire awaits them!
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 10
[But,] verily, they who attain to faith and do righteous deeds shall [in the life to come] have gardens through which running waters flow - that triumph most great!
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 11
VERILY, thy Sustainer's grip is exceedingly strong!
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 12
Behold, it is He who creates [man] in the first instance, and He [it is who] will bring him forth anew.
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 13
And He alone is truly-forgiving, all-embracing in His love,
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 14
in sublime almightiness enthroned,
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 15
a sovereign doer of whatever He wills.
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 16
HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 17
of Pharaoh, and of [the tribe of] Thamud?
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 18
And yet, they who are bent on denying the truth persist in giving it the lie:
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 19
but all the while God encompasses them [with His knowledge and might] without their being aware of it.
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 20
Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime,
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 21
upon an imperishable tablet [inscribed].
Surah Al-Burooj - Ayah 22
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night!
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 1
And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night?
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 2
It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness:
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 3
[for] no human being has ever been left unguarded.
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 4
LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created:
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 5
he has been created out of a seminal fluid
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 6
issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman].
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 7
Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life]
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 8
on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare,
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 9
and [man] will have neither strength nor helper!
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 10
Consider the heavens, ever-revolving,
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 11
and the earth, bursting forth with plants!
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 12
BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that between truth and falsehood,
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 13
and is no idle tale.
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 14
Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth];
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 15
but I shall bring all their scheming to nought.
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 16
Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while.
Surah At-Taariq - Ayah 17
EXTOL the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's name: [the glory of] the Al-Highest,
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 1
who creates [every thing], and thereupon forms it in accordance with what it is meant to be,
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 2
and who determines the nature [of all that exists], and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment],
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 3
and who brings forth herbage,
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 4
and thereupon causes it to decay into rust-brown stubble!
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 5
WE SHALL teach thee, and thou wilt not forget [aught of what thou art taught],
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 6
save what God may will [thee to forget] - for, verily, He [alone] knows all that is open to [man's] perception as well as all that is hidden [from it]
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 7
and [thus] shall We make easy for thee the path towards [ultimate] ease.
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 8
REMIND, THEN, [others of the truth, regardless of] whether this reminding [would seem to] be of use [or not]:
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 9
in mind will keep it he who stands in awe [of God],
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 10
but aloof from it will remain that most hapless wretch –
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 11
he who [in the life to come] shall have to endure the great fire
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 12
wherein he will neither die nor remain alive.
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 13
To happiness [in the life to come] will indeed attain he who attains to purity [in this world],
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 14
and remembers his Sustainer's name, and prays [unto Him].
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 15
But nay, [O men,] you prefer the life of this world,
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 16
although the life to come is better and more enduring.
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 17
Verily, [all] this has indeed been [said] in the earlier revelations –
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 18
the revelations of Abraham and Moses.
Surah Al-A'laa - Ayah 19
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event?'
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 1
Some faces will on that Day be downcast,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 2
toiling [under burdens of sin], worn out [by fear],
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 3
about to enter a glowing fire,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 4
given to drink from a boiling spring.
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 5
No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 6
which gives no strength and neither stills hunger.
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 7
[And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 8
well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 9
in a garden sublime,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 10
wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk.
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 11
Countless springs will flow therein,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 12
[and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 13
and goblets placed ready,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 14
and cushions ranged,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 15
and carpets spread out…
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 16
DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created?
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 17
And at the sky, how it is raised aloft?
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 18
And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared?
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 19
And at the earth, how it is spread out?
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 20
And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort:
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 21
thou canst not compel them [to believe].
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 22
However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 23
him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]:
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 24
for behold, unto Us will be their return,
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 25
and verily, It is for Us to call them to account.
Surah Al-Ghaashiya - Ayah 26
CONSIDER the daybreak
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 1
and the ten nights!
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 2
Consider the multiple and the One!
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 3
Consider the night as it runs its course!
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 4
Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth?
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 5
ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer has dealt with [the tribe of] ‘Ad,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 6
[the people of] Iram the many-pillared,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 7
the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? –
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 8
and with [the tribe of] Thamud, who hollowed out rocks in the valley? –
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 9
and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles?
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 10
[It was they] who transgressed all bounds of equity all over their lands,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 11
and brought about great corruption therein:
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 12
and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering:
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 13
for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch!
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 14
BUT AS FOR man, whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me";
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 15
whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!"
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 16
But nay, nay, [O men, consider all that you do and fail to do:] you are not generous towards the orphan,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 17
and you do not urge one another to feed the needy,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 18
and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 19
and you love wealth with boundless love!
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 20
Nay, but [how will you fare on Judgment Day,] when the earth is crushed with crushing upon crushing,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 21
and [the majesty of] thy Sustainer stands revealed, as well as [the true nature of] the angels; rank upon rank?
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 22
And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him?
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 23
He will say, "Oh, would that I had. provided beforehand for my life [to come]!"
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 24
For, none can make suffer as He will make suffer [the sinners] on that Day,
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 25
and none can bind with bonds like His.
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 26
[But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace!
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 27
Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]:
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 28
enter, then, together with My [other true] servants –
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 29
yea, enter thou My paradise!"
Surah Al-Fajr - Ayah 30
NAY! I call to witness this land –
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 1
this land in which thou art free to dwell -
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 2
and [I call to witness] parent and offspring:
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 3
Verily, We have created man into [a life of] pain, toil and trial.
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 4
Does he, then, think that no one has power over him?
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 5
He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!"
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 6
Does he, then, think that no one sees him?
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 7
Have We not given him two eyes,
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 8
and a tongue, and a pair of lips,
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 9
and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]?
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 10
But he would not try to ascend the steep uphill road...
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 11
And what could make thee conceive what it is, that steep uphill road?
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 12
[It is] the freeing of one's neck [from the burden of sin],
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 13
or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger,
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 14
of an orphan near of kin,
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 15
or of a needy [stranger] lying in the dust –
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 16
and being, withal, of those who have attained to faith, and who enjoin upon one another patience in adversity, and enjoin upon one another compassion.
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 17
Such are they that have attained to righteousness;
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 18
whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages – they are such as have lost themselves in evil,
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 19
[with] fire closing in upon them.
Surah Al-Balad - Ayah 20
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness,
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 1
and the moon as it reflects the sun!
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 2
Consider the day as it reveals the world,
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 3
and the night as it veils it darkly!
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 4
Consider the sky and its wondrous make,
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 5
and the earth and all its expanse!
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 6
Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be,
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 7
and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God!
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 8
To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity,
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 9
and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness].
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 10
TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud,
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 11
when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed],
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 12
although God's apostle had told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!"
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 13
But they gave him the lie, and cruelly slaughtered her - whereupon their Sustainer visited them with utter destruction for this their sin, destroying them all alike:
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 14
for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them.
Surah Ash-Shams - Ayah 15
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness,
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 1
and the day as it rises bright!
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 2
Consider the creation of the male and the female!
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 3
Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends!
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 4
Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God,
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 5
and believes in the truth of the ultimate good
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 6
for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease.
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 7
But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient,
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 8
and calls the ultimate good a lie –
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 9
for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship:
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 10
and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]?
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 11
BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance;
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 12
and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]:
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 13
and so I warn you of the raging fire -
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 14
[the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 15
who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it].
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 16
For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God:
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 17
he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity –
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 18
not as payment for favours received,
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 19
but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest:
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 20
and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased.
Surah Al-Lail - Ayah 21
CONSIDER the bright morning hours,
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 1
and the night when it grows still and dark.
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 2
Thy Sustainer has not forsaken thee, nor does He scorn thee:
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 3
for, indeed, the life to come will be better for thee than this earlier part [of thy life]!
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 4
And, indeed, in time will thy Sustainer grant thee [what thy heart desires], and thou shalt be well-pleased.
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 5
Has He not found thee an orphan, and given thee shelter?
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 6
And found thee lost on thy way, and guided thee?
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 7
And found thee in want, and given thee sufficiency?
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 8
Therefore, the orphan shalt thou never wrong,
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 9
and him that seeks [thy] help shalt thou never chide,
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 10
and of thy Sustainer's blessings shalt thou [ever] speak.
Surah Ad-Dhuhaa - Ayah 11
HAVE WE NOT opened up thy heart,
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 1
and lifted from thee the burden
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 2
that had weighed so heavily on thy back?
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 3
And [have We not] raised thee high in dignity?
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 4
And, behold, with every hardship comes ease:
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 5
verily, with every hardship comes ease!
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 6
Hence, when thou art freed [from distress], remain steadfast,
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 7
and unto thy Sustainer turn with love.
Surah Ash-Sharh - Ayah 8
CONSIDER the fig and the olive,
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 1
and Mount Sinai,
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 2
and this land secure!
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 3
Verily, We create man in the best conformation;
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 4
and thereafter We reduce him to the lowest of low
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 5
excepting only such as attain to faith and do good works: and theirs shall be a reward unending!
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 6
What, then, [O man,] could henceforth cause thee to give the lie to this moral law?
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 7
Is not God the most just of judges?
Surah At-Tin - Ayah 8
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has-
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 1
created man out of a germ-cell
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 2
Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 3
who has taught [man] the use of the pen –
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 4
taught man what he did not know!
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 5
Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 6
whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient:
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 7
for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return.
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 8
HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 9
a servant [of God] from praying?
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 10
Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way,
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 11
or is concerned with God-consciousness?
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 12
Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]?
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 13
Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]?
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 14
Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 15
the lying, rebellious forehead! –
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 16
and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom,
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 17
[the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement!
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 18
Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]!
Surah Al-Alaq - Ayah 19
BEHOLD, from on high have We bestowed this [divine writ] on Night of Destiny.
Surah Al-Qadr - Ayah 1
And what could make thee conceive what it is, that Night of Destiny?
Surah Al-Qadr - Ayah 2
The Night of Destiny is better than a thousand months:
Surah Al-Qadr - Ayah 3
in hosts descend in it the angels, bearing divine inspiration by their Sustainer's leave; from all [evil] that may happen
Surah Al-Qadr - Ayah 4
does it make secure, until the rise of dawn.
Surah Al-Qadr - Ayah 5
IT IS NOT [conceivable] that such as are bent on denying the truth - [be they] from among the followers of earlier revelation or from among those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God should ever be abandoned [by Him] ere there comes unto them the [full] evidence of the truth:
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 1
an apostle from God, conveying [unto them] revelations blest with purity,
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 2
wherein there are ordinances of ever-true soundness and clarity.
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 3
Now those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime did break up their unity [of faith] after such an evidence of the truth had come to them.
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 4
And withal, they were not enjoined aught but that they should worship God, sincere in their faith in Him alone, turning away from all that is false; and that they should be constant in prayer; and that they should spend in charity: for this is a moral law endowed with ever-true soundness and clarity.
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 5
Verily, those who [despite all evidence] are bent on denying the truth - [be they] from among the followers of earlier revelation or from among those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God - will find themselves in the fire of hell, therein to abide: they are the worst of all creatures.
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 6
[And,] verily, those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds - it is they, they who are the best of all creatures.
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 7
Their reward [awaits them] with God: gardens of perpetual bliss, through which running waters flow, therein to abide beyond the count of time; well-pleased is God with them, and well-pleased are they with Him: all this awaits him who of his Sustainer stands in awe!.
Surah Al-Bayyina - Ayah 8
WHEN THE EARTH quakes with her [last] mighty quaking,
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 1
and [when] the earth yields up her burdens,
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 2
and man cries out, "What has happened to her?" -
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 3
on that Day will she recount all her tidings,
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 4
as thy Sustainer will have inspired her to do!
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 5
On that Day will all men come forward, cut off from one another, to be shown their [past] deeds.
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 6
And so, he who shall have done an atom's weight of good, shall behold it;
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 7
and he who shall have done an atom's weight of evil, shall behold it.
Surah Az-Zalzala - Ayah 8
Oh, the chargers that run panting,
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 1
sparks of fire striking,
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 2
rushing to assault at morn,
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 3
thereby raising clouds of dust,
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 4
thereby storming [blindly] into any host!
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 5
VERILY, towards his Sustainer man is most ungrateful
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 6
and to this, behold, he [himself] bears witness indeed:
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 7
for, verily, to the love of wealth is he most ardently devoted.
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 8
But does he not know that [on the Last Day,] when all that is in the graves is raised and brought out,
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 9
and all that is [hidden] in men's hearts is bared
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 10
that on that Day their Sustainer [will show that He] has always been fully aware of them?
Surah Al-Aadiyaat - Ayah 11
OH, the sudden calamity!
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 1
How awesome the sudden calamity!
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 2
And what could make thee conceive what that sudden calamity will be?
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 3
[It will occur] on the Day when men will be like moths swarming in confusion,
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 4
and the mountains will be like fluffy tufts of wool....
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 5
And then, he whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 6
shall find himself in a happy' state of life;
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 7
whereas he whose weight is light in the balance
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 8
shall be engulfed by an abyss.
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 9
And what could make thee conceive what that [abyss] will be?
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 10
A fire hotly burning!
Surah Al-Qaari'a - Ayah 11
YOU ARE OBSESSED by greed for more and more
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 1
until you go down to your graves.
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 2
Nay, in time you will come to understand!
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 3
And once again: Nay, in time you will come to understand!
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 4
Nay, if you could but understand [it] with an understanding [born] of certainty,
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 5
you would indeed, most surely, behold the blazing fire [of hell]!
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 6
In the end you will indeed, most surely, behold it with the eye of certainty:
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 7
and on that Day you will most surely be called to account for [what you did with] the boon of life!
Surah At-Takaathur - Ayah 8
CONSIDER the flight of time!
Surah Al-Asr - Ayah 1
Verily, man is bound to lose himself
Surah Al-Asr - Ayah 2
unless he be of those who attain to faith, and do good works, and enjoin upon one another the keeping to truth, and enjoin upon one another patience in adversity.
Surah Al-Asr - Ayah 3
WOE unto every slanderer, fault-finder!
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 1
[Woe unto him who amasses wealth and counts it a safeguard,
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 2
thinking that his wealth will make him live forever!
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 3
Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment!
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 4
And what could make thee conceive what that crushing torment will be?
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 5
A fire kindled by God,
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 6
which will rise over the [guilty] hearts:
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 7
verily, it will close in upon them
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 8
in endless columns!
Surah Al-Humaza - Ayah 9
ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer dealt with the Army of the Elephant?
Surah Al-Fil - Ayah 1
Did He not utterly confound their artful planning?
Surah Al-Fil - Ayah 2
Thus, He let loose upon them great swarms of flying creatures
Surah Al-Fil - Ayah 3
which smote them with stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained,
Surah Al-Fil - Ayah 4
and caused them to become like a field of grain that has been eaten down to stubble
Surah Al-Fil - Ayah 5
SO THAT the Quraysh might remain secure,
Surah Quraish - Ayah 1
secure in their winter and summer journeys,
Surah Quraish - Ayah 2
Let them, therefore, worship the Sustainer of this Temple;
Surah Quraish - Ayah 3
who has given them food against hunger, and made them safe from danger.
Surah Quraish - Ayah 4
HAST THOU ever considered [the kind of man] who gives the lie to all moral law?
Surah Al-Maa'un - Ayah 1
Behold, it is this [kind of man] that thrusts the orphan away,
Surah Al-Maa'un - Ayah 2
and feels no urge to feed the needy.
Surah Al-Maa'un - Ayah 3
Woe, then, unto those praying ones
Surah Al-Maa'un - Ayah 4
whose hearts from their prayer are remote
Surah Al-Maa'un - Ayah 5
those who want only to be seen and praised,
Surah Al-Maa'un - Ayah 6
and, withal, deny all assistance [to their fellow-men]!
Surah Al-Maa'un - Ayah 7
BEHOLD, We have bestowed upon thee good in abundance:
Surah Al-Kawthar - Ayah 1
hence, pray unto thy Sustainer [alone], and sacrifice [unto Him alone].
Surah Al-Kawthar - Ayah 2
Verily, he that hates thee has indeed been cut off [from all that is good]!
Surah Al-Kawthar - Ayah 3
SAY: "O you who deny the truth!
Surah Al-Kaafiroon - Ayah 1
"I do not worship that which you worship,
Surah Al-Kaafiroon - Ayah 2
and neither do you worship that which I worship!
Surah Al-Kaafiroon - Ayah 3
"And I will not worship ~hat which you have [ever] worshipped,
